The Ph.D. program of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering for Education is composed of four majors; Advanced Mathematics and Human Mechanisms, Nano and Functional Material Sciences, New Energy Science and Earth, Life and Environmental Sciences. Admission Policies
Each major of the Ph.D. program for the Graduate School of Science and Engineering for Education of the University of Toyama has set the following admission policies for suitable candidates.
Major of Advanced Mathematics and Human Mechanisms
- An individual with an overflowing sense of curiosity toward the relationship between nature and human social environments and lifestyles who seeks to enhance his or her own ability to search for challenges utilizing broad-based knowledge and specialized academic ability.
- An individual with an overflowing sense of curiosity toward mathematical truth who seeks to enhance his or her own inquisitive ability to search for challenges utilizing a flexible mind-set and logical thinking.
- An individual who aims to play an active role in the community and international society.
Major of Nano and Functional Material Sciences
An individual who has basic academic ability about functional materials, has an inquisitive mind for research and development such as the creation of various types of functional materials using nano technology, analysis of its physicality, structure and reactivity or the development of environmentally-friendly production process and aims to contribute to society as a researcher or professional engineer in the future.
Major of New Energy Science
An individual who has acquired advanced expertise and inquisitive ability to search for challenges from broad-based perspectives ranging from basic research about energy to the development of new energy, storage, transportation and conversion of energy and further to the global environment and works enthusiastically on the most advanced challenges toward the realization of a sustainable society.
Major of Earth, Life and Environmental Sciences
An individual who has deep interest in each area of earth science, biology and environmental science and aims to acquire expertise and applied skills through specialized research of these subjects and play an active role in society.
